How long have you worked at YSB, and positions have you held?

I began working with YSB in July of 2007. I was initially hired as an Independent Living Coordinator and Home-Based Caseworker.  In December of 2012 I transitioned into current position as Home-Based Program Coordinator.

Where did you go to High School, College, and what what was your Major?

I attended High School at South Adams and graduated in 2001. I went on to obtain an Associated Degree in Human Services from Ivy Tech in 2005. I went on to obtain in Bachelors of Science from IPFW in Human Services with a minor in Psychology.

Tell us a little about your family.

My wife Jennifer attended South Adams also but we did not date in high school, she is two years older than me. She attended IPFW also and obtained a degree in Elementary Education. I met her at C & C Bible Fellowship in Berne. We just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. We have two children Ben - 6 who is attending Kindergarten at South Adams Elementary.  He is very artistic he would love to color you a picture sometime. He is awesome at the game Memory. Katelyn - 2 now but will be 3 years old on December 7th. She loves to have her fingernails and toenails painted, dressing up in princess dresses, and loves playing games and do puzzles.

Do you have any hobbies?

I enjoy playing all kinds of sports, watching football (especially the Colts), reading comics, watching superhero movies, spending time with my spouse, kids, and extended family.

Favorite Television Shows, Movie, and music?

Right now our favorite television shows are Scorpion, Person of Interest, and Elementary. We do enjoy watching MASH, Smallville, and Seinfeld. The Wedding Singer with Adam Sandler is probably my all around favorite movie. Others would be X-men Days of Future Past, Avengers, Frequency, and The Count of Monte Cristo.  One of my favorite actors is Jim Caviezel. It's hard to narrow down just one band, but I would have to say right now my favorite band  is probably Skillet. I have seen them in concert a handful of times and they always put on a good show.

What things do you like most about your job?

I like being with awesome staff people who care a lot about others and do excellent work for them. You have to have a huge heart for people to work with the very difficulty ones that we often encounter. I also love working with the students at BASE in 7-12th grade. This is often a vulnerable time and they are often the outcasts and the ones that schools don't have a lot of hope for. I get the privilege of developing relationships with these young men and taking an interest in them. This is something they have often never had and with time they often start to make better decisions and have been able to be successful in our program. It's awesome to see.
