Established in 1978, the Youth Service Bureau was created to provide to emergency care to children and youth removed from their homes so they could have a safe, temporary place to stay. Soon the agency developed a residential treatment component wherein children, youth, and families were able to identify needed changes and work together for successful reunification.
As the communities the agency serves identified gaps in services and needed programs, the Youth Service Bureau has responded by developing services to meet those needs. As a result, the agency now provides a wide array of services that range from voluntary prevention programs, such as Healthy Families and Born to Learn, to a variety of home based/community based services that include home-based therapy, casework, supervised visitation, as well as other services to communities across the region.
